"Club President Colin Mannakee visited Jonny in the Princess Grace Hospital in London after our Jumble Sale on Saturday and was delighted to find him making remarkable progress after his traumatic accident in Italy two months ago.
Jonny had (the day before) begun speaking again and had also managed to get out of bed for the first time. Colin spent an hour by his bedside, during which time he met Jonny's Dad, John, his grandmother and great aunt and, briefly, former Olympic bronze medallist and manager of the GB Academy Team based in Tuscany, Max Sciandri. Max had left Italy at 6am and was en route to Manchester for meetings with BC/Team Sky the following day. John Bellis senior told me that Max had been a frequent visitor to Jonny's bedside in hospital in Florence and that his presence had been a big influence on Jonny's steady recovery to date.
Jonny's close friend and Team GB colleague, Mark Cavendish, will be visiting later this week, when he flies in from Italy to London (during his stay he will also be signing copies of his book 'Boy Racer').
Colin felt that Jonny was displaying his usual positive outlook on life and is determined to make his recovery as speedy as possible. He was very pleased to receive a card with numerous signatures from the Glendene and, as he regains strength, to see some more of his former teammates from the Club; shortly, he should be moving on to the Wellington Hospital in London to continue his rehabilitation, before returning home to the Isle of Man, probably in the New Year."

Can you believe it?
At the weekend Tony Woodcock, our past Veteran World Road Racing Champion, has added to his palmares the title of Galerian by climbing Mont Ventoux 4 times (yes 4 times!) in the same day to raise funds for Great Ormond Street Hospital. Fantastic!
He was ably supported by Keith Gross ( with an End to End ride and a Race Across America on his CV) who managed 3 ascents before cramp ended his effort.
They now join an elite band of brothers and sisters who have achieved this.
If you haven't chipped in to Tony's good cause yet then please get out your cheque book now.

Joe Perrett maintaining his excellent form and in his first ride for the GB team yesterday, in Belgium, won the European Junior Men's TT Championship. What a great ride!
Well done Joe. We are all delighted and none more so than your Mum who was there to see you and told us all about it at the Clubnight last night.
