31/7 - CC Breckland 12hr
Mick Gray accumulated 254.122 mile in the CC Breckland 12hr. This gave him 2nd in the race and broke Colin Mannakee's 1969 exisiting 12 hour record of 244 miles. The winner was Andy Biggs (CC Breckland) who achieved 260.584 miles on a cold and windy day. Mick was assisted by Stan Turner who was supplying food, drink and a spare wheel when Mick puntured.

31/7 - Time Trialling
Alex Dowsett clocked 20.27 and 53.06 in 10 and 25 miles events up North. I am unsure of his positions in each event, but they were all within the top 3.

31/7 - Redbridge CC RR
A fast and aggressive race was won by the previous week's ERRL race victor, Dean Shannon of Southend Wheelers. The race was fast and furious all day, thanks to an attacking display from Crest CC, keen to show off their new national champion, and all four Glendene representatives were riding well at the front in an attempt to break away. The team was involved in all the sizeable moves and splits of the race but as it continued, the race had bunch sprint written all over it. But somehow late in the race Dean Shannon and a Cambridge rider got away and took a comfortable 40 second lead. Sensing the danger, Will Hedden and Anthony Miller joined a Crest instigated chase, but the lack of co-operation from other teams meant the race looked over. The Cambridge rider was eventually dropped and came back to the bunch. Shannon, however, held on for an impressive win. In the sprint Simon Warren (Norwood Paragon) went for a long one for second and the bunch were lead in by Daniel Crawley (Crest CC) after a fine lead out from new junior national champion Adam Norris. Brett Travers took ninth and Will Hedden 12th in a hectic bunch sprint with Anthony Miller just behind and maybe in the points if not for all the placings failing to be judged. Mike Crockford was safely behind in the bunch.

31/7 - SERRL RR
Ed Whitehorn took 2nd place in the 78 mile race in Tenterden, Kent. The race for 1, 2, 3 category riders was ridden at very fast pace with the race long break averaging 26 mph in the mild and slightly damp conditions. Also riding was Sean Kilroy, who finished 16th, and Adrian Ramsbottom.
Ed put himself into the thick of the action early attacking on the first climb which set the tone for the first lap. It was half way through the first lap when a large group splintered from the bunch. The small undulations in the moderately tough course were enough to make the selection for the leading group. The group was left with 10 riders and appeared to have no weak links not including the bloke who snapped his chain.
The bunch were in close pursuit of the break for the next 40 miles with the lead dwindling to 15 secs. The small lead combined with the excessive early speed of the race was enough to prevent any attacks from the break. It was not until the 1 lap to go when Ed felt it time to make people legs hurt by attacking up the finish climb. This was despite the realisation that he was up against 3 teams of 2 riders each. Nevertheless the consequential reactionary attacks didn't fail in causing people to dig a bit too deep .
In the closing stages it was Chris Partlett (Tunbrigde Wells RC) who was taking turns with his former team mate Chaz Hollosi (Gemini BC) to put Ed under pressure. Simon Cope (Pacific RC) helped neutralise some of the attacks but at the bottom of the finish climb Chris Partlett had a useful lead. Ed refused the chase. It was on the final section of the climb that Ed had to go early in order to catch Partlett in time and was followed by his team mate Ashley Holding. In the last 50 m Holding had the legs to pass and deny Edward victory. A small chasing group established a lead on the bunch towards the end and Sean came in 1m20secs later at the head of a fragmented bunch to claim 16th. Adrian also finished in the bunch.

24/7 - National Junior RR Championship [Results: BCF]
Heavy rain made racing hard for all the riders on a technical course near Dorton, Buckinghamshire. Alex Dowsett was unfortunate to puncture early on and he had to retire after the spare wheel would not work.
The race refused to split significantly and the conditions were visibly showing on the rider's faces. Lewis Atkins and Russell Hampton were both in a lead group of about 7 riders with 1 lap to go up Muswell Hill. At the finish it was Adam Norris (Crest CC) who was triumphant winning the sprint up the climb ahead of Lewis Atkins who finished 3rd and improved on his 4th place a year earlier. Russell finished in 7th place. Kristian Downs would have finished well but snapped his chain on the final lap.

24/7 - National Espoirs (U23) RR Championship [Results: BCF]
Richard Whitehorn finished 9th in another tough race. The heavy rain at the start of race cleared up, but the conditions were too harsh for Edward and Mike who retired early.
Richard didn't have the legs when the main contenders and the eventual winner bridged the gap to the early break. Richard left his group or what was left of the bunch to finish on his own in 9th position. The winner was Ben Greenwood (Recycling.co.uk).

24/7 - API Viper LVRC RR
A large break went almost immediately on the Blackmoor/Highwood circuit. Sean Kilroy managed to get across to the leaders in a chasing group after the midway stage of the 45 mile race. The leading group was now 15 riders but as the race progressed the group split leaving Sean in a group sprinting for 4th place. He finished 3rd in his group which gave him 6th position.

23-24/7 - Surrey League Crawley CC 2 Day [Results: BCF] [AM]
Tony Couchman, Will Hedden and myself rode it as a team but Tony and Will dropped out of the second stage after a good effort to stay with the front group but it was a very tough and interesting race read on...
Stage one was a tough 1.8 mile hill climb, I didn't fair so well finishing just 47th, Tony 44th and Will 42nd.
Stage two saw the field blown to pieces from the gun by some very aggressive riders trying to collect points for the jerseys. Despite trying very hard to keep in contact with the front group, Tony, Will and myself found ourselves in bits on just the 2nd lap of the tough 6 mile circuit. However, we were not alone and riders were continually getting spat out and as I kept going, I became part of a tail bunch that was steadily growing in strength and numbers. This bunch worked very hard together so as not to lose too much time from the front group. I attacked with Jon Payner on the last lap and then dropped him to finish alone well ahead of the group and managed to gain some extra time moving me up to 28th in the GC.
Stage 3 was more of the same but longer and even more hilly and in nasty wet conditions. Three riders got away and despite numerous attempts by Simon Warren to try and close the gap, we were only able to catch two of the escapees. Due to the chase and the desire for jersey points the front group was very fast and was dropping riders continually as the race went on just as in stage 2 but somehow I rode above myself and managed to stay with them to the finish, coming in 20th. The remaining riders behind were far enough down that this also allowed me to move up to 20th in the GC and gain a well deserved point on my licence ! Mark Legget took the overall win with a very strong ride in stage 3 allowing him to leapfrog infront of Simon Warren who came 2nd.

17/7 - North Road RR
Early in the race Michael Gardner, Mick Gray and Adrian Ramsbottom were all active in trying to get away in attacks, however we were all brought back. Nick Hastler instigated the winning break of 7 that got away with 3 laps to go. Unfortunately the Glendene missed the break. Nick punctured with a couple of laps remaining leaving 6 out front. On the last lap our very own Mike Crockford launched a powerful attack to try and get across to the break, however was brought back. The 6 fought out the finish with the win going to Simon Martin. Adrian Ramsbottom got 8th, moving him back into 3rd overall in the ERRL league. Michael, Mick and Mike Crockford all finished in the bunch.
