14.05.06 - Lea Valley RR (Nat C)
[Results: ERRL]

4th Jonny Bellis, 5th Alex Dowsett, 12th Andrew Griffiths, 15th Ben Thompson.

Ant Miller recalls: If I remember right, Staite came in alone a couple of minutes ahead of Skuse and Radziej. Then The Glendene boys Jonathon Bellis and Alex Dowsett came in sprinting from a small group. Then Michael Gardner alone and then Ben T sprinting hard with a group of about 8 lead by Andrew Griffiths. And finally Mick Grays group, again about 8 riders shortly after. I got dropped like a sack of fat spuds the second time up the big mountain and then did 3 laps on my own so I don't really know much about how the race developed. Mark P, Tony C and Adrian R were in the bunch which got pulled out with 2 laps to go because it was over 6 minutes down from the rest of the race. Tony C led the sprint for 26th place or so.. 14.05.06 - Rutland-Melton Cicle Classic
[BCF Report]

Glendene Cycling Club/Bike Trax riders excelled again on Sunday in this Premier Calendar Series cycle race centred on Melton Mowbray in Leicestershire. On country lanes selected for their rough, mud and grit strewn surfaces, the 150 starters faced one of the toughest 100 miles challenges in the cycling calendar.

First Glendene finisher Mark Mckay battled the conditions and the top class opposition to gain a very creditable 10th place. Man on form Matt Talbot punctured and crashed his way to 25th, whilst first year senior Chris Bartlett again rode out of his socks to finish 32nd of the 50 finishers. Glendene's two other starters, Ben Hallam and Kristian Downs, succumbed to punctures, mud and high speed, and joined the 100 others who failed to finish.

These results will attract national ranking points to consolidate Glendene's position as 3rd most successful club in Britain at this point in the season. [TW]

07.05.06 - Lincoln GP
[BCF Report]

Glendene CC Bike Trax rider Matt Talbot scored an outstanding result on Sunday in the top senior national series road race the Lincoln Grand Prix.

In front of a huge crowd in Lincoln's historic town centre, Matt stormed up the fearsome cobbled climb of Michaelgate to third place, 9 seconds behind winner Kristian House of the Recycling team. After 85 tough miles in continual rain at an average speed of 25.17 miles per hour and 11 ascents of Michaelgate, the 140 strong field was reduced to 60 heroic finishers.

Other Glendene Bike Trax team members to finish were Mark Mckay, 37th, and Chris Bartlett, 42nd. Fourth man Ben Hallam retired after 70 miles, having been part of a team time trial winning Glendene team of the previous day. Mark continued his successful come back to top road racing form whilst Chris produced an astonishing performance to finish amongst the nations best in his first Premier Calendar event and in his first year in the senior ranks.

To finish third against the cream of British road racing talent which included two reigning world champions, and in an event which included national teams from Ireland, Australia and Holland, puts Matt firmly in the top echelon of GB road racing, and confirms Brentwood's Glendene Bike Trax as one of the country's premier clubs.
