Another great ride by Joe (Perrett) in the National Junior 10 at Newbury to win with a time of 20:47 (28.869mph) with Tom Yeatman in 3rd 21:47 (27.544mph) and back up from brother Rob 24:27 (24.540mph). Tom has been suffering with a gastric virus and only managed to get a week’s training prior to the event; otherwise I’m sure the second placed (giant) Connor Dunne of the Hemel Hempstead CC would have been displaced. Even so, Connor could have won if he learns to pace himself a little better.
The course was a tough one, generally considered a minute and half slower than the level courses the TT men are used to.
Another note is that the win by Joe would have put him in a top ten spot in the senior event, composed of 137 riders, some of the U.K. fastest TT specialists. Only Michael Hutchinson was able to get inside 20 minutes for the course to win the senior event.
Well done!
