Olly Rossi picked for Youth Olympics 25.06.09

Oliver Rossi, our 16-year-old youth star, has just received notification of his selection for the 3-man Great Britain Team to contest the forthcoming Youth Olympics in Finland. This is a wonderful achievement for the powerful young man from Barkingside. Very well done Olly, we are truly proud of you.

To celebrate, Olly rode the Maldon CC GHS National 10m TT Eastern Qualifier on Saturday and not only won the race, but beat the times of all the riders in the senior 10 as well. With his outstanding time of 21-55 on the sluggish Steeple course, Olly was a clear winner - 2nd was 23-31! - and led his Glendene CC/Bike Trax Team of Jim Lewis (3rd in 24-06) and Dan Young (4th in a PB of 24-43) to 1st Team as well! These three now go forward to the GHS National Final in September (in Leicestershire we think).

Just outside the selectees was 14-year-old Josh Green with a sterling 26-05.
Jim's dad Paul Martin also took part in the senior event clocking 24-46, as did Josh's dad Steve with 25-55. Posted by GlendeneCC at June 26, 2009 08:40 AM
