Can you believe it?
At the weekend Tony Woodcock, our past Veteran World Road Racing Champion, has added to his palmares the title of Galerian by climbing Mont Ventoux 4 times (yes 4 times!) in the same day to raise funds for Great Ormond Street Hospital. Fantastic!
He was ably supported by Keith Gross ( with an End to End ride and a Race Across America on his CV) who managed 3 ascents before cramp ended his effort.
They now join an elite band of brothers and sisters who have achieved this.
If you haven't chipped in to Tony's good cause yet then please get out your cheque book now.

Joe Perrett maintaining his excellent form and in his first ride for the GB team yesterday, in Belgium, won the European Junior Men's TT Championship. What a great ride!
Well done Joe. We are all delighted and none more so than your Mum who was there to see you and told us all about it at the Clubnight last night.

Oliver Rossi, our 16-year-old youth star, has just received notification of his selection for the 3-man Great Britain Team to contest the forthcoming Youth Olympics in Finland. This is a wonderful achievement for the powerful young man from Barkingside. Very well done Olly, we are truly proud of you.
To celebrate, Olly rode the Maldon CC GHS National 10m TT Eastern Qualifier on Saturday and not only won the race, but beat the times of all the riders in the senior 10 as well. With his outstanding time of 21-55 on the sluggish Steeple course, Olly was a clear winner - 2nd was 23-31! - and led his Glendene CC/Bike Trax Team of Jim Lewis (3rd in 24-06) and Dan Young (4th in a PB of 24-43) to 1st Team as well! These three now go forward to the GHS National Final in September (in Leicestershire we think).
Just outside the selectees was 14-year-old Josh Green with a sterling 26-05.
Jim's dad Paul Martin also took part in the senior event clocking 24-46, as did Josh's dad Steve with 25-55.

An awesome weekend has taken place and must be mentioned.
The Junior team raced in the National series in Yorkshire this weekend, in the Tom Simpson GP. Josh Won, David was 3rd and Joe 4th in what was a supreme team effort to achieve this result....I wish I’d been there. David is now thought to be leading the National RR series..... in Glendene Colours!!!!
Let’s not forget that in that team, we also have the National 10 and 25 mile TT champion in Joe, not Regional, but National....the best in the country.........no one better I say... I bet Mum and Dad are proud!
Bob Downs’ management of our team has got to be respected, and total admiration to the team felt as they clearly push forwards throughout the season with such strength. This space must be watched over the coming weeks, for we must be heading towards amazing results (no pressure guys!)
Brilliant result guys.
Very proud to be Glendene.

Another very good day for the Glendene team in the National 25 Junior event today. Joe Perrett won with a time of 53:07, Tom Yeatman 2nd 54:16, and helping them to collect the team award 15 year old Rob Yeatman with a time of 1:01:21.
The event on the B25/4 course just south of Norwich was held in blustery conditions, all three riders getting a good soaking for their efforts. Fastest to the turn was Tom Yeatman with a split time of 28:48, Joe just 8 seconds behind with 28:56. However, Joe gained time on the return leg, Tom having lost some critical training mileage earlier on in the season which showed over the last few miles. It was an impressive performance by the team, the result now joins the National 10 mile Championship as Glendene property.

Nigel Job reports:
Another great ride by Joe (Perrett) in the National Junior 10 at Newbury to win with a time of 20:47 (28.869mph) with Tom Yeatman in 3rd 21:47 (27.544mph) and back up from brother Rob 24:27 (24.540mph). Tom has been suffering with a gastric virus and only managed to get a week’s training prior to the event; otherwise I’m sure the second placed (giant) Connor Dunne of the Hemel Hempstead CC would have been displaced. Even so, Connor could have won if he learns to pace himself a little better.
The course was a tough one, generally considered a minute and half slower than the level courses the TT men are used to.
Another note is that the win by Joe would have put him in a top ten spot in the senior event, composed of 137 riders, some of the U.K. fastest TT specialists. Only Michael Hutchinson was able to get inside 20 minutes for the course to win the senior event.
Well done!

Nikki Juniper became a BC licence holder last week and rode for us in the International 2 Days of Bedford Stage Race (4 stages with 95 competitors from around the globe). Nikki was a magnificent novice!! She came 18th in the 80km hilly stage 2, 28th in the individual TT (stage 3) and a brilliant 9th in the final even hillier stage over 72km. Overall, Nikki finished 24th beating the whole BC Eastern Region Team and at least two girls riding for Great Britain. She is a very exciting prospect indeed. Last week she clocked 26m 26s in the Glendene's Sunday Club 10 on the E91 Leaden Roding- Gt Dunmow course for her first proper time trial. Tonight she debuts in the first Club Evening 10 at Navestock Heath : start time is 7.30pm.
