The club have a number of regular organised rides. The Saturday
morning rides are popular. We usually meet at 9:00 am for 9:15
am start. Some longer rides during summer start earlier.
Everyone meets by the Blackmore Tea Rooms in Blackmore, Essex CM4
0RL. Most rides start and end here unless alternative
arrangements have been made.
There are two groups going out regularly - Glendene B and Glendene
C. The Glendene A group rides during spring and
summer, mainly for training and race preparation.
Group Leaders organise their rides using WhatsApp; this allows
members to stay in touch and share information with each other.
We welcome new riders of all ages and abilities, and those returning
to cycling after a period away from the sport. After some trial rides
with us we ask that you become a member to enjoy the continued
benefits of riding with a club. You would become part of group with a
shared passion for cycling who care for your safety and well-being.
A hard shell helmet is strongly recommended for everyone taking
part in club rides and events.
We also recommend having third party insurance, which is included with
individual membership of British Cycling or Cycling UK.
Group B - Tempo Rides
Group B rides are usually at a tempo pace aimed at more
serious riders. Join these experienced riders to improve performance
or provide preparation for racing.
In summer the rides are usually 60 to 100 miles at an average
speed of 17 to 18 mph.
In winter, depending on the weather and road conditions, they are
often shorter - typically around 50 miles.
During spring and summer there are also mid-week rides arranged by
members to suit.
A GPX route map is available for each ride. There is usually help with
punctures and any mechanical issues.

Group C - Steady Rides
Group C could stand for a couple of things.
The first is it's a like-minded group of riders who have an
average speed of 15 to 16 mph and would ride on average 50
to 60 miles on Saturdays with a cafe stop about half way.
The second is we have the understanding that not everyone is into
stats and data. We like to stop and admire the wonderful Essex
countryside and take a little time getting up the road if it's a bit
challenging. The aim is for all riders to stay with the group and
not get dropped.
If you are new to cycling in a group, we would be very happy to help
you develop the necessary skills and ride safely.
We are keen to have new faces come along, join the rides and have
fun!

Some of our
favourite café stops
These serve excellent tea and
coffee, offer a selection of cakes and some have a range of hot and cold
food.
